Embrace the Spirit of Fall: Celebrating Mabon and the Autumn Equinox with Gratitude

Mabon celebration

Full disclosure, I'm an Angel girl, and my knowledge about Pagan holidays is somewhat limited. That's just one of the many reasons why I love working with my soul sister, Jennifer Iliana. She constantly teaches me new and exciting things.

On September 15, 2024, Jennifer and I are hosting a group reading event dedicated to Mabon and the Autumn Equinox.

In honor of this upcoming event, I want to dedicate this post to exploring Mabon.

What is Mabon?

Mabon aligns with the Autumn Equinox. It's an enchanting festival that calls for reflection and gratitude. It is also the perfect time to reconnect with our spiritual selves as we embrace the shift from summer to fall.

The Magic of Mabon and the Autumn Equinox

Mabon, also known as the Witches' Thanksgiving, is a time to honor the harvest's abundance and express gratitude for the fruits of our labor. And because the Autumn Equinox symbolizes a time of equal light and dark, this is also a great time to find balance and harmony in your life, both internally and externally.

How to Celebrate Mabon

Here are some great ways to celebrate Mabon this year:

1. Create an Abundance Alter

If you don't have an alter already, this is the perfect time to set one up! Adorn it with autumn colors, candles, harvested fruits, and seasonal flowers. Don't forget to offer gratitude for the blessings in your life. Break out that gratitude journal or do an abundance meditation.

2. Enjoy a Feast of Thanks

Prepare a delicious meal using fresh, locally sourced ingredients. And, because sharing is caring, don't forget to share this feast with loved ones and give thanks for the food and the good company.

3. Get Crafty

Engage in crafty activities, like making wreaths, herbal sachets, or seasonal decorations.

4. Go on a Nature Walk

Take a mindful walk in nature, soaking in the sights, sounds, and scents of fall. And, if you feel inclined, collect leaves, acorns, pine cones, etc for your alter or crafts.

5. Practice a Release and Renewal Ritual

Reflect on what no longer serves you and release it with a simple ritual. Light a candle, write down what you want to release, and burn the list when you’re done. Then, write down all the wonderful things are want to bring into your life this fall, and place the list on your alter.

6. Perform Some Acts of Kindness

Spread positivity and raise your vibration by performing acts of kindness for others. Small gestures of compassion will ripple outwards, creating a snowball effect.

Let’s Welcome the Fall Season Together!

Join Jennifer Iliana and myself for our Falling Into Autumn event, where we will offer readings that explore themes such as:

  • What is coming to an end for you?

  • What do you need to release this season?

  • What needs to be balanced?

  • How can you express more gratitude towards your achievements?

  • What potential challenges may you face with the darkness approaching?

  • How can you overcome these obstacles?

  • What message does the waning sun have for you?

We hope to see you there!
